How I clean my makeup brushes

Image
Because nobody likes icky brushes. Did ya know that dirty makeup brushes can aggravate acne?  Dirt, oil, toilet germs (eek) and bacteria among other things can be found on them there brushes. Usually, I would wash them at least once a week and my method is shown below. I bought these makeup brushes from Sacha cosmetics. I use a mild soap like baby shampoo.  Anything too harsh may damage the bristles and shorten the life span of the brushes. I use rubbing alcohol for the handle and ferrule parts,  I put them to dry flat on some paper towels or napkins.

5 St Patrick's day makeup ideas from Pinterest.

Image
This photo is not mine So St. Patrick's day is fast approaching. While it may be a religious day for some, others may be enjoying some green beer.  You can check out my Green Skittles Vodka recipe  here . Some ladies (and men) also choose to add a little green to their makeup routine on that day. I decided to pick out 5 makeup looks for the occasion. 1.  Green glitter and Shamrocks. This photo is not mine This model used at least 2 shades of green eyeshadow, as well as green glitter and some added shamrock pieces to get her look. The link for this photo can be found   here 2.  Green eyeshadow with heavy liner. This photo is not mine The woman in the photo above chose to add a green turban to her ensemble. Kyshadow burgundy palette dupes!

Image
As usual, I went through my makeup stash and found some dupes for Kylie Jenner's Burgundy palette. Yeah, it's just a thing that I like to do. 1. Profusion Runway Glamour eyeshadow Cherry Bloom This is a rather affordable eyeshadow palette that I bought at a local beauty supply store.   There are 6 shades which range from a pale pink-ivory color to an almost gunmetal hue. 2.  Arista 6 piece eyeshadow kit. This palette features a white and two grey hues, as well as a brick red, lilac and blue. You will find swatches of the originals, dupes and comparisons below: 1. Naked dupe 2.  Beach dupe 3.  Penny dupe 4.  LA dupe 5.  Burgundy dupe 6.  New York dupe This photo is not mine   Here are affiliate links where you can find some palettes with similar colors:

Kylighter (Kylie Jenner highlighter) dupes!

Image
This photo is not mine. Kylie Jenner launched some Kylighters the other day and the swatched shades are featured in her photo above. The shades include Chocolate Cherry, Strawberry Shortcake, Cotton Candy Cream, Salted Caramel, French Vanilla, Banana Split. So what usually happens when she launches a product?  There's an online mad rush followed by sold out statuses and lots of disappointments. I rummaged through my pile of highlighters, illuminators and bronzers to find some dupes of her shades. A dupe is a shade which can be very similar to or exactly like a shade from another makeup brand.  It is not the same as bootleg or imitation shades. These are the products that I found in my makeup stash: City Color Highlight Trio Collection 1(the middle shade is a French Vanilla dupe): Miaou Magic Finish Cooked Powder (Strawberry Shortcake dupe): City Color Baked Blush Bronze (Chocolate Cherry dupe): City Color Bronzer (Daw...

Ipsy, Bh cosmetics beauty haul!

Image
I received my last monthly Ipsy packet and my order from Bh cosmetics in January          The theme for the January Ipsy bag:  Metropolis.  Maybe to promote some sort of 'street glam'                movement? Meh, I dunno. I've been gazing at this 'Take me to Brazil' palette for approximately one year.  Eventually I said to myself: Ah, just buy the makeup!     So I did.            Anyhoo, back to the Ipsy bag.         This was the card that came in the Ipsy package. And all the products, most of which I had never heard of before. 1.   Ipsy L34 Blend Beauty. Loving the lilac handle with the ombre bristles. 2.  Model Co. Peach Bellini blush. According to the modelcocosmetics website, this blush retails for $US 22. 3.  Mannakadar Beauty Fantasy 3 in 1 blush, highl...

Elf plumping gloss review and March makeup haul!

Image
Blame my massive makeup purchase on the fact that there were a couple of sales and I could NOT say no.    Don't judge me :p There were so many products that I had to put them into three categories:  Eyes, Lips, Face with nails. The eye products are pictured below: Some of the eye makeup here that I have never tried include Physician's formula, Malibu glitz, Wet & Wild, Ruby kisses.  I can't wait to try them! The face and nail products can be seen here: The items that I tried before in this photo are the Jordana nail polish (other shades, not this one) and the green tea mask.  So many products, so little time! The lip products are shown here: The EOS lip balm is the second lip item here that I would like to try.  Unfortunately, I have to wait until my current Blistex lip balm is used up.  I say the second lip item because I  first decided to use and review the Elf plumping gloss. The plumping glos...
