Review: MAC Prep and Prime Fix+ spray

I consider myself to be more of a 'drugstore beauty' kind of woman.

So when a good friend suggested this product after I complained to her about my inability to keep a perfectly set made up face after one working day, I was hesitant at first.

It's MAC.

MAC's prices are what I consider to be astronomical.  For the United States resident who may be reading this blog post, I have to multiply any $US MAC price by approximately 6.2 to figure out the price I would pay in Trinidad and Tobago dollars on the MAC website.  Our local MAC store may sell at prices up to 7 or 8 times the $US MAC price.

Yikes.

However, after about 6 months, I decided to take the plunge, buy the Prep and Prime Fix+ product and just use it sparingly.

I was disappointed.

Why? The results were superb.  This meant that I was now hooked on a pricey product.

I also like the easy lock spout so you can be comfortable carrying it around and not having to worry about product spillage.

I use this product sometimes as a primer before I apply makeup, or as a quick spritz after my makeup routine.

It blurs my makeup and makes it softer and slightly dewy.

Style Crush - Kate Middleton

Wimbledon is all about tennis and strawbs and cream, the added bonus being the exhilaration of glimpsing our favorite celebrities in the crowd.  K Middleton is a Wimbledon regular who never ceases to disappoint with her gorgeous outfits.  She looked positively radiant in her bright yellow Roksanda dress last week.  The dress also features contrasting white panels and flattering sleeves.  She wore the same dress in 2014 and because of this we love her so much more.

She finishes off this great look with a skinny skinny watch and beige tote bag along with carefree, blow-dried hair.

Do you want this seemingly effortless royal look?  You can with this cute Closet Bell Sleeve Dress.

This lemon color perfectly matches the sunny, summer weather.  Add our Skinny Silver Bracelet and an Ecru Shopper for a Wimbledon - worthy look.

Tip:  Wear this dress with white sneakers for a more casual look.

Charles Family day

This was held on Saturday 9th July 2016 at the San Fernando Hill.

This event takes place every two years.

The day's proceedings started with a prayer by Mr. Louis Gobin.  This was followed by a breakfast of bake, saltfish, tea and coffee.

Then there were a few games and activities where family members got to meet and greet each other.

The different clans:

1.  Uncle Raymond
2.  Uncle Lennard
3.  'Tantie' Louisa
4.  Uncle Matthew
5.  Omega (my grandmother)
6.  Uncle Phillip
7.  Uncle Eli
8.  Uncle Edgeton
9.  Uncle Edward
10.  Uncle Emmanuel
11.  Uncle Louis
12.  Uncle Boyie
13.  Aunt Sylvia

There was a glorious sing along to religious music.

Lunch consisted of buss up shot and curried channa and aloo, goat, curried duck, curried chicken, mango anchar.
Vegetable rice, corn pie, barbecued chicken, green salald, macaroni salad

After lunch, there was a lively game of Senior citizens' Musical Chairs.

There were also bouncy castles, popcorn and cotton candy for the kiddies.

Some family members tried their hand at a couple of dances which included the Electric Slide.

The event closed off around 5pm, when family members milled around saying their goodbyes.

Review : Dr brandt PoreDermabrasion pore perfecting exfoliator

I received a 0.25oz tube of this product in my Ipsy bag a few months ago and had never heard of this item before.  This is sulfateparaben and phthalate free and comes in an easy to open tube.

The function of this product is to remove dead cells on the skin's surface, leaving smoother skin.

The pore exfoliator is light colored with fine granules and a fresh mint or citrus scent.
I used it twice a week, making sure to gently rub my fingertips in a circular motion on my face and neck.

The result was smoother skin, the patches of rough skin on my face cleared up after a couple of uses.

The online price for a 2oz tube of this item: US$58.  I would recommend this item to those who can afford it.  I would not buy it because I usually use a baking soda paste to exfoliate and  it works just as well.

Thanks so much for reading!

Review: Creme of Nature Shampoo, Hair Milk & Curl Enhancing Creme

I have to admit , these Creme of Nature products have been lifesavers for my hair!  Since I decided to buy these products just for the heck of it, I don't regret my purchases.  These have been my go-to products for a little over two months and I am totally satisfied with the results.

1.  Creme of Nature Moisture & Shine shampoo.

This sulfate - free product lathers up well and rinses out leaving hydrated, clean hair.

2.  Creme of Nature Leave - In Hair Milk.

I apply this after I condition my hair and also as a daily moisturiser.

3.  Creme of Nature Pudding Perfection Curl Enhancing Creme

This is the last step in my hairdressing routine.  As the name states, its pudding - like consistency keeps my hair moist so it does not dry out and get crunchy.
The label says it can also be used with heat to stretch out curls but I try to keep heat - styling tools at bay as much as I can.

My thoughts on this line?

I haven't purchased their conditioner because I like deep conditioning treatments (I use another brand that I can review at a later date).

The packaging is attractive; it is the red - hot color that got my attention.

The line has a light, sweet scent.

Argan oil has been known to treat damaged hair and is easily absorbed.

I would recommend that other naturalistas try this line.  Everyone needs to find the products that work for them and these are MINE!
